"This woman is magic. I suffer from spine and nerve damage. And without prompting she knew exactly which arm was compromised from cervical spine damage and moved that sensation through my body and out of the other arm. I can not do justice in the relief I felt when she was done. I believe in what she does and who she is. she is an absolute love to be in the presence of as well. She will take care of you."

The word "Reiki" is made up of two Japanese words. Rei, which means "spiritual wisdom" or "higher power" and Ki, which is "life-force." Energy healing or "laying of hands" is one of the oldest forms of healing known to humankind. Since early times, people have sought ways to heal and be healed. Energy healing has been practiced for many thousands of years. The healing touch of another person has the ability to calm our inner self and to lift our spirits, while allowing positive, nurturing, healing energy to enter us.
During treatment, Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the client. The client is usually lying on a table, but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, belly, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Session times can vary. Before the treatment, the practitioner will address any concerns of the client, and focus energy to those specific areas. Reiki's healing philosophy is based in the understanding of life as an energetic holistic system.
Reiki offers many helpful and healing benefits. Relaxation, metabolism boost, heightened awareness, inner peace, stress relief, confidence, prevention of disease, pain management, balance in life, injury prevention, creating good habits/removing bad habits, plus alleviating mental, emotional, or spiritual traumas. These are just a few of Reiki's many benefits. Anyone who is seeking an alternative method of keeping their mind and body more attuned and dwelling in a state of love and healing should seek a Reiki session.
Beginning in the the early 2000's while living in San Francisco, I received a healing by a Reiki master in California that helped set me on course in learning and understanding more about healing modalities and energy work. I became certified in Reiki I, II, and Mastership levels through the University of Southern Maine. I've completed both basic and intermediate Therapeutic Touch training sessions, as well as obtaining my Foundations of Holistic Health minor. Earlier in 2019, I acquired my Holy Fire II Karuna Reiki Master certificate, which is proven to be a more powerful form of Reiki. In the past, I have served as a volunteer in the Reiki Program at Maine Medical Center and I was present during the birth of my great niece, administering Reiki treatments to both mother and daughter in the delivery room. Shortly after, I became a Reiki Practitioner at Apple Core Therapy in Portland, Maine. My work there was a life changing experience, as I deepened my knowledge and insight in Reiki and other modalities. I approach each of my clients with love, respect, and compassion. I firmly believe that Reiki can both calm and facilitate healing in all people and promote well being.
